Taurus

Alanya is on the Mediterranean coast, but it has its back to the Western Taurus Mountains. The Taurus Mountains are an integral part of life in Alanya. It is a thousand-year-old Yörük Turkmen culture to go to the plateau in the summer and to spend the summer on the plateau. Until the last century, the villages were emptied with the spring and the plateaus were reached. On the plains of the Taurus Mountains, whose height exceeds 1000 meters, tents made of goat hair were set up, while the herds were grazed, cheese and oil were produced, and carpets and rugs were woven. The plateau culture continues today to spend a cool weekend in the houses that have replaced the tents. The Taurus Mountains hide the unique beauties of nature with its forests covered with pine and cedar trees, deep valleys, peaks penetrating into the clouds, and streams flowing from the peaks. Today, the highlands have been frequented by local and foreign tourists; Old Turkmen traditions are kept alive in daily picnic areas.
